As of ProCal Version 6.3.19 ProCal can communicate with VISA compatible instruments using the alias configured on the system.
Note - All testing and verification has been performed using the National Instruments implementation of VISA. Support for other implementations of VISA has not been tested for full operation.
To use a VISA UUT, existing procedures that already communicate with UUT's using the UUT xxx command (Further information for sending commands to UUT's can be found here: http://support.transmille.com/solution/articles/9000148729) will require no conversion. New procedures will need remote control commands added.
When a procedure that communicates with a UUT is detected ProCal will display the UUT selection window.
Select the 'VISA Alias' tab and enter the Alias that has been assigned to the UUT using your VISA configuration application (Transmille advise National Instruments Measurements & Automation Explorer). For the purposes of this example, the Alias 'UUT' has been used.
ProCal will now send all commands that follow the 'UUT' text in the Instrument control section, including readback sections.
It may be possible that any pre-programmed delays may need to be modified due to differences in timing, however, these will be minimal.
