The Formula window of ProEdit allows the user to perform many powerful functions, one such feature is performing a manual average of the previous tests
When controlling a multimeter over an interface ProCal can perform this automatically, however when calibrating by hand the average of previous tests can be dynamically calculated.
In the below example Test 4 will take the average of Tests 1 through 3 and the current value (i.e. the average of 4 tests)
- Create a new test of the test point that you wish to create an average of, for example 10V DC
- Copy the test 4 times so your procedure now has 4 new tests
- Set the first 3 test points to 'Do Not Print Test' in the PRINT tab
- In the 4th test, make sure that the print type is set to 'Always Print Test'
- In the 'ADVANCED' tab of the 4th test, enter the following formula: X=X+T1+T2+T3/4
- At run time, take the measurements as normal. When you arrive at the 4th test, you will notice that the recorded value will dynamically update depending on what is entered
- ProCal has stored all of the previous samples so during an audit you can display the previous samples if required.
** PLEASE NOTE THAT UNCERTAINTY CALCULATIONS WILL NOT TAKE THE STANDARD DEVIATION OF SAMPLES INTO ACCOUNT USING THIS METHOD **
