Software Testing & Validation Process

Modified on Mon, 28 Oct at 9:26 AM

All ProCal suite updates go through a testing and validation process prior to release. Once released, all patch notes are available on the relevant software updates page. Historic patch notes are also kept available on the support system.

Testing and verification process:

  • Changes are unit tested in isolation in the development environment
  • Changes are then tested within wider software functions in the development environment
  • Changes are released to the "live" Transmille lab environment to ensure no issues in cojunction with normal running of the software
  • Depending on the change or new feature, outside beta testing may be undertaken with selected customers, particularly in situtations where a new feature has been specifically requested by a customer
  • Once all testing steps have been passed, the update will be made available for all eligible customers via the support portal

Calibration results verification should be completed by end users to ensure that procedures in use are programmed correctly, taking into account lab specific traceability, uncertainty and processes. The "BMC" process available in ProCal allows for users to create a check procedure that verifies if results are correct or not.

It is not Transmille's responsibility to run this BMC check on behalf of customers, as every lab environment is unique and should be checked by those responsible for the lab's output.

Any potential software issues raised by customers as a result of the BMC process will be investigated, with either advice or updates issues if required.
